RE/MAX Cayman Islands gives single largest donation to RE/MAX Bahamas Hurricane Relief Fundraiser

The agents and support staff at RE/MAX Cayman Islands donated over US$8,000, the single largest donation, to a Go Fund Me campaign started by fellow RE/MAX office, RE/MAX Bahamas.
RE/MAX Bahamas has partnered with Aviator Zone out of Miami, Florida to fly supplies to The Bahamas after the devastation of Hurricane Dorian, the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike The Bahamas. Regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s history, damage in The Bahamas was catastrophic due to the prolonged and intense storm conditions with thousands of homes destroyed. It is estimated to have left behind an unprecedented $7 billion in property damage. As reported by The Tribune in The Bahamas, as of October 4, 2019 the confirmed death toll is 61, but more than 400 people are still reported missing across Abaco and Grand Bahama.
“I want to thank each and every one of our agents and support staff who contributed to this substantial donation” said Owner/Broker James Bovell. “RE/MAX Cayman Islands is honoured to help a fellow RE/MAX office raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Dorian.”

“As we all know from our experience with Hurricane Ivan, recovering and rebuilding after a hurricane can take months if not years,” noted Owner/Broker Kim Lund. “After the initial news stories have died down, it’s important to keep raising awareness and donating funds to help rebuild The Bahamas.”

The Go Fund Me campaign has already allowed RE/MAX Bahamas to complete 9 trips and they are now looking to fill a plane with 7,500 lbs. worth of supplies to take to The Bahamas. They are working directly with local groups to provide help, support and the supplies needed to the areas that got directly damaged by the storm.
